& Fast Fashion
Fika developed a community swap event series for a fun and creative way to give clothes a new life and prevent more tactile waste.
Sustainability is a huge recurring topic worldwide including in the fashion industry. There's a shift toward shopping more consciously, and sustainability starts with thinking differently about what we buy and where we buy it. Americans throw away about 85% of clothes each year, accounting for 9% of the total non-recycled waste on planet Earth.
Our goal with Style Swap is to provoke conversations and develop an organic and accessible solution to this problem. With the support from our local community partners, we were able to produce three swap events with a different benefitting charity tied to each theme including the Lotus House Women’s Shelter and the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. We were able to achieve:
Fika curated mini pop-up experiences throughout the Style Swap series. A collaboration with ACURE came to life through relationship building. ACURE provided complimentary beauty product samples to attendees and offered one-on-one skin care routine recommendations. In addition, we partnered with local Sky Nails Spa & Salon to provide funky polish changes at a custom nail bar. In partnership with Marques de Riscal, Buenos Aires Bakery and DICED restaurant, guests were able to sip on wine and enjoy local bites at each event.
With the support of our community partners All Day Coffee Shop, The Confidante Hotel and Lotus House Thrift Boutique, we were able to augment the overall Style Swap experience in different neighborhoods and inclusive settings.
This sustainable initiative wouldn't be complete without giving back to our community. We partnered up with Lotus House, a local women's shelter, and Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, a non profit organization, to raise funds and support their missions by donating all leftover pieces that were not swapped.
